Susan H. Ainslie grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York. Believing (like many of us) that it was not practical to seek a liberal arts education, she earned an undergraduate degree in home economics and a masters degree in education. Time passed as she raised a family and held “responsible jobs.” As retirement opened a new world of opportunities, Susan realized that something had been missing: her love of the arts was still unfulfilled. With the encouragement of her friends, she stopped thinking that knitting and crocheting was “just” a hobby. Langdon Designs was born.
The Langdon sisters - Susan’s grandmother, Helen, and great aunt, Ruth - were her first teachers. They made beautiful clothes, knitted garments and crocheted linens. Now they are her inspiration.
Langdon Designs offers simple yet sophisticated one of a kind knitted and crocheted bags and home accessories that showcase hand dyed wool and other natural fibers.
